Red Rock Delight

Dance is an art form that I've been passionate about for many years now. One of the many things I love about dancing is being able to experiment with many different characters and personas. I have an open mind when it comes to the music I choose to dance to. I'll dance to anything from club banging, top 40, dance hits to slow jamming, love songs by underground artists. Dance gives me the opportunity to portray many different characters so as I jump into the style-blogosphere, I'll definitely take this fun experimental mentality with me.

Part 2 of my debut photo shoot features a street look which was fun getting into character for. It's a thuggish mix with a rock influence, hence the post title.

What I'm wearing: Black clip-back hat (General Pants Co), Black wayfarer style sunglasses, Red tartan short sleeve shirt (Topman), Black waxed spray on skinny jeans (Topman), Red socks (Roger David), Black hightop chucks (Converse).

I had a pair of jeans similar to these about 4 years ago and they were my absolute favourite. I couldn't buy them again once mine had worn out since the original brand stopped producing them and so I was ecstatic to find this similar style (a few years later) at Topman! These are "spray on" skinny cuts which means they are so tight that they look like they have literally been sprayed onto your legs. In hindsight I don't think they look to0 bad but I think a larger size would have made them less restricting when wearing them all day.

This tartan short sleeve shirt was much harder to style than I thought. Matching them with black jeans would be your safest option. I should have gone for the long sleeve version as it would've given me more options of how to wear them. Either with the sleeves down, sleeves rolled up or even have the shirt tied around my waist for a completely different look.

My first official style blog post

I came into this year with a fresh mindset, an adventurous one at that. I've become fed up with trying to please everyone and holding back from creating things because I either didn't feel ready or I feared criticism. I wanted to start the year off strong so I released a dance youtube video even though I felt rusty and needed to work on my skills again. That was easy as my background is in dancing and I guess some people still know me as a dancer.

But this next creative project is something a little more risky and bold. Last year my interest in fashion grew and I also experienced my first job in a retail store. I've always admired bloggers and anyone who had confidence in sharing their opinions. It took me a while to stop listening to the negative voices in my head, telling me I couldn't do it but I've finally stopped listening and I made this shoot happen for my new style blog! It's not up to par with the other style blogs out there at the moment but the best thing about this is that I can only improve from here.

Ok, so now I'm just rambling, here's part 1 of my debut style post: Clean summer, blue on blue look.

What I'm wearing: All black browline sunglasses (Dangerfield), Brushed blue button down shirt (Topman), Brown braided belt (Topman), Navy Ultra skinny trousers (Topman), Blue pattern socks (Roger David), Black derby leather shoes (Topman).

Making the most of summer before it's finished - Hype this on lookbook here.

Brushed blue button down shirt from Topman - I've recently been inclined to choose short sleeve shirts over long sleeves. I like rolling up the sleeves so they don't stick out and fit better. It may also help if I work on my arms #NoteToSelf.

Brown braided belt from Topman. Nice vintage look, which also nicely breaks up the shades of blue.

Black derby leather shoes from Topman - These are obviously not the freshest pair of shoes but I wanted to use them in a shoot before I said goodbye to them. They've been very useful for me as their brown sole makes them very versatile. I've worn them everywhere from dinners, parties and even job interviews.

Navy Ultra skinny trousers from Topman - These have to be my favourite style of trousers that I own. They have a nice skinny cut but they are also made of 2% elastane giving them a nice comfortable stretchy fit. Perfect for a night out when you wanna look classy but don't want to be restricted on the dance floor by the tightness of your pants lol. I had these tailored and got the ends cuffed to give them an effortless slick look. They are a perfect match for some nice patterned socks.

FIRST YOUTUBE VIDEO!

"Anything worth doing is worth doing poorly, than not done at all" - G. K Chesterton

It’s finally here! I’ve finally ran out of excuses and released my first youtube video. Sadly the choreography is not mine (Choreographed by the talented Elli Arbel) and I only contributed about 1 or 2 moves but it’s a stepping stone regardless! I’ve always been the type to over analyse and wait until for the perfect timing before starting something. The opportunities I’ve missed have slowly taught me that there is no such thing as perfect timing and I should do something first, evaluate later or risk missing the opportunity completely.
